Office Cleaning Scope of Work: What to Include (Free Template)

By the CleaningCrews Perth team · Updated 3 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

A tidy open-plan Perth office after an after-hours clean

An office cleaning scope of work lists what gets cleaned, how often, when the cleaners attend, how they access the building and what standard you expect. A clear scope avoids disputes and makes quotes easy to compare.

If you have ever asked three cleaning companies for a quote and received three very different numbers, the missing piece was probably a clear scope of work. It is a simple document, and it protects both sides.

What to put in your scope

  1. The address, floor area and number of staff or visitors.
  2. The rooms and areas to be cleaned, and any areas to avoid.
  3. Tasks and how often each is done.
  4. Days and hours the cleaners will attend.
  5. How they get in: keys, swipe cards, alarm codes and lift access.
  6. Who supplies consumables such as toilet paper, soap and bin liners.
  7. Any security, confidentiality or induction requirements.
  8. The quality standard and how problems are reported.

A typical task list

FrequencyTypical tasks
DailyEmpty bins, wipe desks and kitchens, clean and restock bathrooms, vacuum, mop entrances, disinfect handles and switches
WeeklyVacuum all carpets, mop hard floors, dust ledges and blinds, clean inside microwave and fridge, spot clean glass and walls
MonthlyDust vents and high shelves, clean light fittings, wipe skirting, deep clean bathroom tiles and grout
QuarterlySteam clean carpets, clean blinds and high windows, review the scope with your provider

Hours: after-hours, early or daytime?

  • After-hours cleaning avoids disturbing your team.
  • Early-morning cleaning means the office is fresh when people arrive.
  • Daytime cleaning suits sites that need constant upkeep, such as clinics and busy reception areas.

Ask about the extras

Decide up front whether you want window cleaning, carpet steaming, kitchen restocking, waste and recycling sorting, or a confidentiality agreement, so they are priced into the quote rather than added later.

Frequently asked questions

Most offices are cleaned daily or several times a week. High-traffic sites such as clinics and gyms may need daily cleaning, and small offices may be fine with one or two visits a week.

Either side can, but write it into the scope. We can restock supplies as part of the service if you prefer.

Yes. If your business handles sensitive information, ask for one before work starts.

It depends on size, frequency, hours and the tasks in the scope. A clear scope leads to a more accurate quote.
